About Gomateshwara Temple

Bahubali or Gomateshwar is a famous Hindu temple. It is located in Nalgonda district, Telungana. He is the second son of  Rishabdev or Adinath. Adinath is the first Tirthankara of Jains. When he left his kingdom, a fight was took place between his two son for the empire. Bharatha defected by Bahubali. But Bahubali was not happy so he gave his kingdom to Bharatha. The statue of Bahubali is 57 feet height.

The statue of Bahubali is famous attration of this temple. The large statue of Bahubali or Gomateshwar is the most popular sacred place for Jainism. The festival is also celebrates in this temple. It is celebrated for 12 years. This is called as Mahamastakabhisheka. This festival is celebrated once in every twelve years. The statue of the Bahubali is bathed with milk, curd, ghee, during this festival. The devotees also offerings a turmeric powder, flower petals and sandalwood powder.The flower petals are showered on the statute by helicopters at the end of this celebration.

 Expect this statue, Fourteen Jainism Shrines are also there. It is on the Chandragiri hills. Mahamastakabhisheka festival is the best time to visit this temple.
