About Sri Lakshmi Kubera Temple

Kubera is the son of Viswara.  Ravana is the son of his step-mother.  The original king of Lanka was Kubera.  Ravana later usurped the Lanka kingdom from Kubera. So, Kubera left Lanka. It is said that Ravana had to face problems only after the exit of Kubera.  The aircraft of Kubera, the Pushpaka would be spilling precious stones at all places while in flight.

Kubera was a staunch Siva devotee.  Pleased with his penance, Lord Siva along with Mother Parvathi graced His darshan.  Seeing Parvathi, Kubera felt that he had not worshipped so beautiful a Goodess like Parvathi when one of his eyes beat softly and stopped.  Exasperated Parvathi caused his eye burst.  Kubera lost an eye.  When he begged the mother to pardon, She graciously did so but said that the vision would not be restored.  Yet Lord Siva replaced it with a small eye.

He also lauded his penance and appointed him as the head of the Northern direction.

Lakshmi Devi appointed him as the custodian of food grains.  It should be understood that Kubera is not the owner of wealth and food grains but only a custodian.  His job is to ensure their security.  Giver is Mother Lakshmi.

Kubera was rewarded by Lord Siva with the post of being one of the guards of the eight directions - the North. The Goddess made him the lord of wealth and material.

As the God of wealth and material, his responsibilities are to distribute them while creating wealth is with Goddess Lakshmi. Kubera is mostly painted with his family and seen showering gold coins and navaratnas.

Performing pooja to Lord Kubera is believed to enrich one's life. To have a wealthy and comfortable life, one has to perform Sri Lakshmi Kubera Pooja.

Lord Balaji or Venkateswara at Thirupathi is said to have Borrowed money form Kubera for his marrige and he is still paying the interest on the loan amount.

This temple was built by Rajalakshmi Kubera Trust
