About Konark Sun Temple

Sun Temple is a famous Hindu temple. This temple was constructed in the 9th century. Based on this, there were Sun temples at Mundira (possibly Konark), Kalapriya (Mathura), and Multan. The samba, the son of krishna was suffered by leprosy. Saga kataka advised him to bless the sun god. It will cure this leprosy. Samba penance for 12 years in Mitravana near the shores of Chandrabhaga. 

By european sailors this monument are called as the Black pagoda. In puri Jagannath Temple is called as White Pagoda.
